Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist in Bunbury?
No. Physiotherapists are first-contact practitioners, so you can book directly with Aspire Physiotherapy Bunbury without a GP referral. A referral is only required if you are claiming under specific schemes such as a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM/EPC) plan, DVA, or workers compensation.
Is physiotherapy covered by private health insurance?
Yes, if your policy includes extras cover for physiotherapy. We have HICAPS available, so you can claim on the spot at your appointment and only pay the gap.
Can I see a physio through workers compensation in WA?
Yes. We regularly treat patients under WA workers compensation claims and work closely with your GP, employer and case manager on a safe, graded return to work. You will need a claim number and referral from your treating doctor.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition, how long you have had it, and your goals. Many straightforward musculoskeletal injuries improve significantly within 3 to 6 sessions, while chronic or complex conditions may need a longer structured program. Your physiotherapist will give you an expected treatment plan and timeframe at your first appointment.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment includes a thorough assessment of your condition, movement and goals, usually followed by treatment on the same day and a personalised plan combining hands-on therapy, exercise and education. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, and bring any scans, referrals or claim details.
Where is Aspire Physiotherapy located and is there parking?
We are at 133 Spencer Street, South Bunbury, in the middle of Bunbury’s medical precinct, with parking available. We are open 7am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and 7am to 5pm Friday.
